prof. Ing. Ivan Turianica, DrSc.

Professor Turianica comes from Uzhgorod, where he had been a scientist and educator at the medical school for 37 years. After arriving in Slovakia he worked at the Department of Nutrition of the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra.

Professor Turianica had spent more than 40 years doing research in area of biochemistry. In his studies he dealt primarily with the need for a iodine for life and in connection with this also with the correct thyroid function . He studied thyroid function in relation to ecologically-conditioned iodine deficiency in a whole range of animals, from the smallest to large, including humans.

The following is the famous statement of professor Turianica which is still used today:

“Where is iodine, there can be life. Where life is, there must be iodine.”

The statement was one of the reasons for creating the unique patented Fortuna Vitae product – pumpkin oil with active organically bound iodine.

The significance of his scientific work is also evidenced by the Cambridge awards awarded every four years. Professor Turianica was awarded the title “Man of the 21st Century” twice in a row, in 2004 and 2008.
